Great news for fans of Banished. The show has 5 nominations in this year's Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards.

BANISHED (FOXTEL - BBC First) rounds out the top five most nominated productions – it received five nominations.

AACTA AWARD FOR BEST DIRECTION IN A TELEVISION DRAMA OR COMEDY

As the Australian premiere of banished approaches - June 25th on BBC First - new articles and links to interviews with writer Jimmy McGovern have appeared online. Mediaweek shared one in which Jimmy discusses his original plan to create a show about the first hangman and Bennelong, the Aborigine. 

How did Banished come about?

In advance of the Australian broadcast of Banished, the Guardian has included the show in an Antipodean news roundup. The show has gathered some controversy (already addressed by Jimmy McGovern during the UK broadcast), regarding the lack of indigenous Australians in series 1. BBC First has created a Banished site for the Netherlands and Belgian broadcasts, which begin on June 6th at 9pm. The site includes new video clips, as well as galleries and character profiles. 

BBC First on Facebook has shared 2 concept / teaser trailers for Banished. 

Banished has been included in the CBC upfronts announced this week, with a broadcast date of July 27th. CBC also shared a launch trailer for the show. For those who love the titles for Banished, Momoco who created them, has shared them online.
