The first proper promo photo of Joseph as Major Ross has been shared on the BBC Banished website, along with a new clip, which features Joseph.

Major Robert Ross Ross is a career military man. He feels he could run things in a much more effective way than Philip, if he were in charge of the colony and if this were treated more as a prison than the start of a community. His priority is his men; they have signed up for a certain amount of time and he will get them home alive. He resents the sharing of meagre resources between convicts and soldiers, whether it's food or women. He starts a relationship with Kitty, initially for sex, but he gradually falls in love with her, counter to everything he believes about convicts.

Banised: absorbing tale of survival, mainly due to the quality cast

Two reviews have appeared online for the new series of Banished which begins on Thursday 5th March on BBC 2.

Filmed on location outside Sydney, the beautiful scenery belies a life of dirt, sweat and desperation. However it's not just the unforgiving landscape that conspires against them; tensions run high between the inhabitants confined to this remote outpost. Marston (Rory McCann of Game of Thrones fame) is a brutish bullying blacksmith while callous Major Ross (Joseph Millson) seems to take sadistic pleasure in punishing his charges. The prisoners are very much portrayed as the heroes and while Banished does plunder a few well-worn tropes (the tart with a heart, the code of silence) it's an absorbing tale of survival, mainly due to the quality cast.
